BLACK TIDE Thanks Fans For 'Best New Talent' Honor
January 17, 2009Miami metallers BLACK TIDE were recently named "Best New Talent" by the readers of Guitar World magazine. Guitarist/vocalist Gabriel Garcia commented: "I want to say thank you to all of our incredible fans for voting for us in the Guitar World readers' poll; it is pretty awesome that you all voted for us as 'Best New Talent.' We really have amazing fans and we look forward to seeing you all on the road and getting to thank each of you personally. We will try to get over to merch after all of our shows to say Hi and sign some stuff for you all. So be sure to pop over and say 'Hey.'
"We just got over to Ireland the other day and are kicking off the Kerrang! tour [with DIR EN GREY, MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE, BRING ME THE HORIZON and IN CASE OF FIRE]. This tour is going to be a kick-ass time, so everyone over here better come out and thrash with us! The lineup is great and we really can't wait to get things started, and we are, of course, looking forward to getting back to the States to see all of you on the ESCAPE THE FATE tour!"
BLACK TIDE filmed a video for the song "Shout" in early October with directors Jason Bergh and David Katzenberg. Photos from the video shoot can be seen on AbsolutePunk.net. The band says, "It was a kick-ass day and everyone that came out fuckin' rocked!"
BLACK TIDE sold 11,400 copies of its debut album, "Light from Above", in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 73 on The Billboard 200 chart.
"Light from Above" was released in March 2008 via Interscope Records. The CD was recorded with producer Johnny K, who has previously worked with DISTURBED, MACHINE HEAD and SOIL, among others.
